Banshee is a media player that allows you to play your music, videos, and other media media as well sync it with portable devices to take your media on the go. Banshee includes features to import your media, manage its metadata, and play your music and videos.
Banshee also helps you sync your music and videos to popular portable devices, such as digital audio players and smartphones. Banshee supports popular devices including most iPods, Sandisk and Creative MP3 players, and Android powered phones.
To install Banshee open a Terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install banshee
When installed you can find Banshee under Applications -> Sound & Video -> Banshee Media Player.
I have already had this ppa in my repository for quite awhile now, but I’m not getting any update on my Ubuntu 10.10 (Actually Mint Julia) system. Still stuck on 1.92.
What am I missing here?
maybe they haven’t updated the package yet
Yeah, you must be right. The Wine website says that their update is still in preparation for distribution. I’m a complete noob to Linux, so I still very much in discovery mode about how things work.
Thanks for the reply.
I used the banshee daily ppa:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/banshee-daily
And after a system update banshee got updated to version 1.9.3
