Here is a guide to install LibreOffice using a PPA. Please note that LibreOffice is still under development (release candidate 2) and it might break your system. Before installing LibreOffice you first need to remove OpenOffice.
To remove OpenOffice open a Terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) and copy+paste the following line:
sudo apt-get purge openoffice*.*
To install LibreOffice on Ubuntu 10.10 and 10.04 copy+paste the following lines:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libreoffice
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gnome
When installed you can find LibreOffice under Applications -> Office
