Plymouth Manager is an easy way to make many changes to your Plymouth screen. You can change the resolution, enable/disable plymouth at startup. Or you can change the Plymouth theme or create one yourself.

To install Plymouth Manager open a Terminal window (press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mefrio-g/plymouthmanager
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install plymouth-manager
To start Plymouth manager press Alt+F2 and type: plymouth-manager
i tryed intstalling it worked but when i went to chose a theme and hit intall and apply theme it works when i shutdown but theres no boot screen its just black and i did hit the begin it does not do anything can you email me the code to unistall it
In a terminal window copy+paste the following line:
sudo update-alternatives –config default.plymouth
Then enter the number that is shown in front of the line that contains:
ubuntu-logo.plymouth
This should reset the plymouth theme to the default one.
To uninstall plymouth manager type:
sudo apt-get remove plymouth-manager
Now reboot your system and the problem should be fixed
Hi Guy’s, I had the same as Cody i tried intstalling it worked but when i went to chose a theme and hit intall and apply theme it works when i shutdown but theres no boot screen its just black, can any-one explain why this happen and how can we fix this? as Plymouth does put a bit life into a start up

You have to use those command lines when you install a plymouth theme using terminal commands…. i prefer to install them manually. Some applications don’t seem to use those commands.
