XBMC is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media. XBMC is available for Linux, Mac OS X (Leopard, Tiger and Apple TV) and Microsoft Windows, as well as the original Xbox game console.
To install XBMC on Ubuntu 10.10 “Maverick Meerkat” open terminal windowd and copy+paste the following lines :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-standalone
When install you can find XBMC under Applications -> Audio & Video
nice howto. will try it on my dev xbmc install to test rstp and other good dharma crunchiness. on another note… where can i get the wallpaper (complete with butterfly animations) shown in the youtube video? too cool…
to use a video file as a wallpaper i used a-desk 1.17 and you can download it here:
