We needs your helpings!

Dear community of our wonderful community,

You may have noticed things have not been as speedy as they once were around here. It seems there have been some personal going-ons with myself and other admin on this site that has slowed our efforts down quite a bit.

Do not fret my friends, I come baring gifts of some-sort, I just don’t know what yet! 🙂 But seriously, a couple of times we have, or I have, tried to obtain a few helpers around here, but to no avail. A little dis-heartening but never-the-less not off putting.

Personally I think there are many of you with the talent and skills that we could all benefit from. SO here I am asking for your help once more.

  • review a game or two.
  • review an app or few.
  • tell us your Ubuntu story, what is your computing history, and future?!
  • share your hardware build with us with photos and what it is you do.
  • are you a member of a local Linux User Group (lug.org) tell us all what you get up-to!
  • have you manage to convert some people into the world of Linux?
  • what do you enjoy the most about Linux?
  • would you like to assist with our upcoming IRC channel?

the list is endless my friends, we just want more input from you. There are only three main folk on our site here, and its bloody exhausting work. This is your site, not ours!!!! The world of Linux is wonderful and you people are wonderful, and from what I have read in your comments, there certainly are a fair few of you that I would instantly accept to bring on board with your skills.

Without further-a-do, get in touch with us here, leave a comment.. There are some behind the scene stuff a few of you woud love to get involved with! 😉

Thank you, so much.

First I must say, the new lightdm login screen seems a lot nicer, than the boring gdm one. I’ve tweaked my desktop a little and it is very glassy. However, compiz seems to crash everytime I play around with it. When I go to dash home/more apps/filter results everything seems to work except the “game” button. I click it and nothing shows up on the dash. (yes I got games installed). It looks like it’s ready to compete with Windows. I have managed to convert 2 people and working on the 3rd. I guess most people are afraid of the… Read more »

Your two cents is worth more than that 😉

Of course we appreciate it, I should have said that. But us Scottish are rather impulsive with this current hurricane!

Looking forward to any more stuff you want to share with us.

CCSM doesn’t work that well, I tried to get the effects to work, but can’t seem to get it to display any effect, but those provided by the beta. I read that there’ll be a new compiz for oneiric. Try to do the cube workaround, but my system crashed and disabled unity and the gnome compatibility aswell, thus I couldn’t get the Ctrl,ALT,T to work. had to go to unity 2d to get it back up and running.

Maybe the effects will work like they did before but enabling the cube can be tricky and you need to enable/disable settings that can mess up your default settings so stuff like ctrl+alt+t will not work any more. You can reconfigure your keyboard short cuts but i think it’s better not to use the compiz cube …

Heya, I’ll tell you folks that I would love to help out but don’t know what i can do. You’ve got my e-mail now so you tell me. I’ve been playing and learning Linux for about 3 years now. was first introduced to Kubuntu but have been with Ubuntu for the last year. I don’t have any real education or talent when it comes to this stuff but am always learning and am not afraid to experiment. I’m self taught (as long as you don’t count all the wonderful forums out there and of course this site) and although I… Read more »

greetings from Venezuela friends I am a constant visitor to this project, my congratulations, Regarding your questions, what I like about using Free Software is the community that exists globally, the power to access information freely without being attached to a proprietary license or a patent, for me the information should be free and equal access for all. I have served on several national Lugs melts even a lug in my town called belug (Betijoque Linux User Group) participating in several conferences of Free Software and leading many parts of the country inofrmación on GNU / Linux, i use Ubuntu… Read more »

It would be an honor, just do not want to commit to something I can not guarantee, I guess they need people to write every day and that I can not guarantee.

We don’t ask people to write an article a day… We would like to have people write when they have the time for it. There will be no pressure or deadlines. I try to add content on a daily basis myself but it’s very hard to keep up with all the info and new developments. What i ask/want is more people sharing their knowledge about Ubuntu. It doesn’t matter if it’s about pimping your desktop, install programs or latest Ubuntu related developments. What ever you think is missing or is important to share is very welcome.

Then count on me, I am a strong advocate of free knowledge and thus free software, I like to write (when I can) on technology, computers, and other personal reflections.
I have several months reading your project every time new information I Ubuntu, I really like very much, so it is always a reference to find out what’s new.
Like I said above will be glad to help in any way possible.

review a game or two. I wrote the walkthrough for FreeDroidRPG, it’s on my wiki here review an app or few. Give me a template and I’ll review an app for you. tell us your Ubuntu story, what is your computing history, and future?! Using Ubuntu since Feisty (7.04), since then I got good at computers, which gets me jobs. Hopefully I’ll get even better jobs in the future. share your hardware build with us with photos and what it is you do. Got a desktop as a barebone kit so it shipped without the OS. Tried LMDE on it… Read more »
