How To: Add Open In Terminal To File Menu On Ubuntu 11.10

Here is a guide that will show you how to add the Open in Terminal option to the file menu. This option allows you to open a terminal in the location your working by right clicking your mouse button and selecting the option in the file menu.




first you need to install the dconf-tools and the nautilus open terminal packages. Open a terminal window (press the SuperKey and type: terminal) and copy+paste the following line:

sudo apt-get install dconf-tools nautilus-open-terminal

Then press Alt+F2 and type: dconf-editor in the left side of the dconf-editor click on org -> gnome -> desktop -> interface and enable can-change-accels boolean. When done close the dconf-editor window and restart nautilus. To restart nautilus copy+paste the following line in your terminal:

nautilus -q

When nautilus is restarted the Open in Terminal option will be shown in the file menu.
