How To Install SopCast On Ubuntu 12.10

SoP is the abbreviation for Streaming over P2P. Sopcast is a Streaming Direct Broadcasting System based on P2P. The core is the communication protocol produced by Sopcast Team, which is named sop://, or SoP technology.

Before you can install SopCast you first need to download and install the sp-auth package from this page and install it with the Ubuntu Software Center. When the package is installed you can close the software center and you can add the PPA.

To add the PPA and install SopCast open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/sopcast -y

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install sopcast-player -y

When installed close the terminal window and to start SopCast click on the Dash Home button and search for: sop
