How To Install VLC Using PPA On Ubuntu 13.04

Here is a guide to install the VLC media player on Ubuntu 13.04. You can install VLC by adding the Nate Muench PPA for VLC media player .

VLC is a powerful media player playing most of the media codecs and video formats out there. VLC is a simple, fast and powerful media player. To add the PPA and install VLC open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/vlc -y
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install vlc

When the installation is finished you can close the terminal window, to start VLC press the SuperKey and type: vlc
