Install Guide: Gimp 2.6 On Ubuntu 11.10

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc. Read more about GIMP



To install GIMP 2.6 follow these steps:

Click on the Ubuntu Software Center launcher
Select search field and type: gimp
select search result
Click on the More info button to select add-ons (optional)
Click on the Install button
Enter password and click on the Autheticate button
When the installation is finished close the Ubuntu Software Center
To start GIMP press SuperKey and type: gimp
