Shotwell 0.11 Is Released

Yorba is proud to announce the release of Shotwell 0.11. Major new features include the ability to organize tags into hierarchical trees, treating RAW + JPEG pairs imported from cameras as a single photo, and the ability to switch between different RAW photo developers.




Shotwell is the default photo manager in Ubuntu 11.04. To upgrade to the latest version all you have to do is to add the official yorba ppa and run a system update.

To add the ppa open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yorba/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

To start Shotwell press Alt+F2 and type: shotwell

To install Shotwell on Ubuntu 9.10,10.04 and 10.10 open a terminal window and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yorba/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install shotwell

Shotwell 0.11 is here! Major new features include:

Select different developers for RAW photos: use the development produced by Shotwell or by your camera
Shotwell now uses GSettings instead of GConf to store its configuration information
“Hide Photos Already Imported” setting persists between imports
Several all-new saved search options
JPEG mimics of RAW images are no longer stored in your home directory, and are now created on demand
Shotwell now supports Windows Bitmap (.bmp) images
