Gloobus-preview, Cover Gloobus and Elementary

Gloobus-Preview is an extension for Nautilus  designed to enable a quick full screen preview of any kind of file. After installing simply start Nautilus and highlight the file you want to check and hit the space-bar.  Images, text files, fonts, and even your music and movies are just a quick key press away.

Installation is easy, just add the repository and install the package using following command lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gloobus-dev/gloobus-preview
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gloobus-preview

after that restart nautilus with

nautilus -q

CoverGloobus is also part of the Gloobus project. It’s a simple application to show the cover and info  of what is playing in your favorite player. After installing and running Covergloobus there will be a small applet floating on your desktop showing coverart of the song currently playing in your favourite player.
It also can download the lyrics of the songs middle clicking on the applet.
There is a vast variety of supported players:

Exaile 0.2.x
Exaile 0.3.x
MPD (requires python-mpd)
Songbird (requires MPRIS plugin for Songbird)
VLC ( > 0.9.0)

Supported Lyrics Engines:

to instal Covergloobus simply add the repository and install the package using following lines in your terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gloobus-dev/covergloobus
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install covergloobus

after that restart nautilus with
nautilus -q

(Well, it seems that there is something wrong with the covergloobus ppa, Here you have the deb packages to install it manually
and, you’ll need to install rsvg package too (will be fixed in covergloobuspackage) sudo apt-get install python-rsvg )

Nautilus Elementary

Nautilus Elementary is a patched Nautilus version that compacts and streamlines Nautilus in GNOME to make file browsing easier. It comes with some useful tools like an integrated terminal.
Installing Nautilus Elementary is easy, just run following terminal commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

after installing restart Nautilus with:
nautilus -q

If you now open up Nautilus’ preferences, you’ll see  a new tab called “Tweaks” which  gives you  options for customizing your new, simplified file manager. You can enable RGBA in Compiz, toggle between a vertical and horizontal toolbar, and a few other small things. Within Nautilus, you can further tweak the window just by hitting F8, F9, and F3; which hide the toolbar, hide the left-hand navigation pane, and open up an extra pane, respectively. The extra pane is especially useful for dragging and dropping files between two folders without having to open up another Nautilus window, and the hotkeys to enable these extra panes are very convenient, letting you open them only when you need them.

Most useful I find the integrated terminal. Accessing the terminal is done by hitting the F7 key which will open a integrated terminal in the current directory

The latest version of Elementary comes with integrated Clutterview , simply press F4 to open it. Please note that Clutterview is still alpha and might not work on all systems. One possible fix is to edit the /etc/environement file
sudo gedit /etc/environment and add the following line:
export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none
save the file and reboot your machine
