Transmission 2.31 Is Released

Transmission is an open source, volunteer-based project. Unlike some BitTorrent clients, Transmission doesn’t play games with its users to make money. Transmission doesn’t bundle toolbars, advertisements, twitter tools, or anything else. It doesn’t hold some feaures back for a payware version. Its source code is available for anyone to review. Its website and forums have no third-party ads or tracking.

To upgrade Transmission open a Terminal window (press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:transmissionbt/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Because Transmission is installed by default you can upgrade the to the latest version using the sudo apt-get upgrade command line. To start Transmission press Alt+F2 and type: transmission-gtk.

If you can’t find upgrades using the terminal window or get a message about packages being held back you can upgrade transmission by doing a system update.

Did not work, it didn’t find any updates to Transmission so I installed aptitude instead and then used that to install the new Transmission over the old one.
