How To Migrate Firefox And Thunderbird Profile On Ubuntu (Dual Boot Systems)

For those with a dual boot system here is a guide to migrate your Firefox and Thunderbird profiles. Just like migrating them from Windows to Ubuntu it’s a simple job to do. All there is to do is to copy+paste the right folders to the right locations and changing the profiles.ini files.

To migrate the Firefox profile folder follow these steps:

Open your Home folder
Select the HDD Windows is located on
Select Users folder
Select your username
Open AppData folder
Open the Roaming folder
Open the Mozilla folder
Open the Firefox folder
Open the Profiles folder
Select and copy the folder insde the Profiles folder

Open your Home folder
Press Ctrl+H
Open .mozilla folder
Open the Firefox folder
Paste the copied profiles folder
Click with the right mouse button on the folder and select Rename
Copy the folder name
Open the profiles.ini file
Select the profile name and paste the copied profile name
Save and close the profiles.ini file

To migrate the Thunderbird profile folder follow these steps:

Open your Home folder
Select the HDD Windows is located on
Select Users folder
Select your username
Open AppData folder
Open the Roaming folder
Open the Thunderbird folder
Open the Profiles folder
Select and copy the folder insde the Profiles folder

Open your Home folder
Press Ctrl+H
Open .thunderbird folder
Paste the copied profiles folder
Click with the right mouse button on the folder and select Rename
Copy the folder name
Open the profiles.ini file
Select the profile name and paste the copied profile name
Save and close the profiles.ini file
