How To Upgrade ownCloud To Version 5.0

ownCloud 5.0 has been released with a lot of new features and improvements. And here is a guide to upgrade to version 5.0.



ownCloud 5.0 is released. ownCloud gives you universal access to your files through a web interface or WebDAV. It also provides a platform to easily view & sync your contacts, calendars and bookmarks across all your devices and enables basic editing right on the web. Installation has minimal server requirements, doesn’t need special permissions and is quick. ownCloud is extendable via a simple but powerful API for applications and plugins.


To upgrade ownCloud you need to download version 5.0 from this page. When downloaded extract the content of the .tar.bz2 file to your desktop and upload the content of the extracted folder to your ownCloud server. When all the files are uploaded to the ownCloud server open your internet browser and go to your ownCloud and then you will see a message that the ownCloud maintenance mode is enabled and that ownCloud is being updated. When ownCloud is up-to-date you can login and enjoy the new features of ownCloud.
