Here is a guide to install LiVES video editor on Ubuntu 11.10. You can install LiVES by adding the Ferramosca Roberto PPA for LiVES.
To install LiVES open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the follwoing lines in the terminal window:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/lives
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lives
To start LiVES press the SuperKey and type: lives
