How To Install Kodi Media Center Using A PPA On Ubuntu 14.10

Kodi (formerly known as XBMC) is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub. Visit the Kodi Homepage.

Kodi can be installed on Linux, OSX, Windows, iOS, and Android, featuring a 10-foot user interface for use with televisions and remote controls. It allows users to play and view most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local and network storage media and the internet.

At the end of the video the screen starts to flash a bit.. don’t worry it’s the video and not your eyes 🙂

You can install Kodi using the XBMC PPA. To add the PPA to your system sources and install Kodi open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:team-xbmc/ppa -y

sudo apt update && sudo apt install kodi kodi-audioencoder-* kodi-pvr-* -y

After the installation you can close the terminal window, to start Kodi press the SuperKey and type: kodi
