PiTiVi allows users to easily edit audio/video projects based on the GStreamer framework. PiTIVi provides several ways of creating and modifying a timeline. Ranging from a simple synopsis view (a-la iMovie) to the full-blown editing view (aka Complex View) which puts you in complete control of your editing.
PiTiVi is installed by default so you don’t have to install it. All you need to do is to add the pitivi stable ppa and do a system update.
To add the PiTiVi ppa open a terminal window (press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pitivi/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
To start PiTiVi press Alt+F2 and type: pitivi
