The Wine development release 1.3.34 is now available. Wine enables Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, and Solaris users to run Windows applications without a copy of Microsoft Windows. Wine is free software under constant development. Other platforms may benefit as well.
What’s new in this release:
- Bytecode support in JavaScript.
- Support for gradients in the DIB engine.
- A number of Uniscribe improvements.
- Fixes for DirectDraw mode switching.
- A few more MSVC runtime functions.
- Various bug fixes.
The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations.
To install Wine open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine1.3
If you already have Wine and the ppa installed Wine will be updated to the latest version when updating your system.
