Here is a guide to make and restore a backup using Evolution mail. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 Beta on my laptop and needed to setup all my email accounts again, i use more then one email address and didn’t want to add them one by one. So i decided to make a backup from Evolution mail on my pc and to restore the backup on my laptop.
Open Evolution Mail (Applications -> Internet -> Evolution Mail)
Click on File and select Backup Settings
Select the location to save the backup and click on the Save button
Read the message and click on the Yes button to confirm and start making the backup
Wait while the backup is being made and when it’s finished your Evolution Mail will be opened again, close your Evolution Mail and copy the backup you made on a flash drive or upload it to your Ubuntu One account and go to the computer/laptop you want to restore the backup on and open your Evolution Mail (Applications -> Internet -> Evolution Mail)
Click on the Forward button
Mark Restore Evolution from the backup file
Click on the (None) button and select the location where the backup is
Select the backup file and click on the Open button
Click on the Apply button to start the backup
Wait while the backup is being restored
When the backup is restored your Evolution mail will be opened automatically
