The PlayDeb repository extends the official repositories by providing latest versions and new games. Unlike the official packages, PlayDeb packages do not have a predefined release schedule – new game versions are provided as they become available from their authors.

Installing PlayDeb is easy you can download and a debian file from the PlayDeb website and install it using the Ubuntu Software Center. Or you can configure the repository manually. To download the debian file click HERE and to configure the repository open a Terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Then add the following line to your sources list:

deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu maverick-getdeb games

Now add the repository GPG key, in your Terminal window copy+paste the following line:

wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add –

That’s all you have to do to install PlayDeb. To install a game search for it on the PlayDeb website and when you found the game all you have to do is to click on the Install this now button under the screenshot of the game. When a game is installed you can find it under Applications -> Games.
