Wine 1.3.24 Is Released

The Wine development release 1.3.24 is now available. What’s new in this release: various directInput improvements, support for line breaking in uniscribe. More UI elements in builtin Shell Explorer. Some more D3DX9 functions, improved support for shell known folders and various bug fixes.


Wine enables Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, and Solaris users to run Windows applications without a copy of Microsoft Windows. Wine is free software under constant development.

To install Wine open a terminal window (press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine1.3


If you already have Wine and the ppa installed Wine will be updated to the latest version when running a system update.
